Massage Time!

Today we read a story about some other children in New Zealand getting into a circle and massaging each other. We copied their idea.

We did circles, clouds, rain, heavy rain, hail and thunder. Then we wrote names on backs and hugged the person in front of us. Lastly we did leaning back.

It was fun and relaxing too.  At the end Mrs Nelson suggested that we could go to sleep but we wanted to do our writing instead.

We did go to sleep for about 5 seconds!!!

Fun in the Snow

It snowed last week. We are having fun in the left-over snow. This is a class treat because we have been working so hard.
There is a hoar frost too. Titiro (look) at the beautiful rakau (trees).

Helicopter Visit Photos

Yesterday a helicopter came to Twizel Area School. It was very exciting. The Kindergarten children and the children from the Twizel Early Learning Centre came to have a look too.  We invited the Helicopter Line to come because the Junior classes are learning about transport. We have been thinking about how helicopters work. Thanks Chris and Grant for telling us.

This is not the surprise but Mrs Nelson said it was!

Waiting!

Here it comes!

A helicopter on our school field!

Listening to Grant, learning about the engines and propellers

Here is the fun part!

We loved learning about helicopters. Nathan's Dad is a helicopter pilot!

Wanaka Toy and Transport Museum Trip

Wanaka Toy and Transport Museum Trip

Room 4 went for a trip to the Wanaka Toy and Transport Museum on Monday the 13th of May. We went there because we were studying transport and we thought visiting the museum would help us with our learning and be a fun day out.

First Debbie welcomed us and told us the rules of the museum. Then we looked around all the exhibits in small groups.

Some of the things we saw in the toys area were a Lego guitar man, glow in the dark Lego, Barbie dolls, a truck and trailer with a digger, some action figures and model cars.

When we went inside the hangers we saw many different kinds of vehicles. Some were fire engines, army trucks, aeroplanes, old cars, carriages, rockets, helicopters and boats.

After we had looked around at everything we played on the pedal cars, machine guns, bikes and swings.

We had lunch in an outside picnic area in the sun and then played again.

In the afternoon we sketched some vehicles and toys.

We left the museum at about 2pm and drove back to Twizel.

The students in Room 4 saw some amazing vehicles and toys. They especially enjoyed the tanks and army cars, the pedal cars, the Lego guitar man and the fire engines. Room 4 think it is interesting that one man collected a lot of things in 50 years. They had an amazing day at the Toy and Transport Museum.

Here is a list of everyone’s favourite thing:

Billy – the Lego guitar man
Jessica – the Lego guitar man
Luca – the army tanks
Willow – fire engines
Joy – the old fashioned cars
Georgia – the Barbie dolls
Caylen – the glow in the dark Lego

Joseph – the mini bikes
Mason – the motor cycles
Blake – the aeroplanes

Takahe Art

Our bird study is nearly finished. We have been doing some Takahe art. First we painted the background and used pastel too. Then we collaged our Takahe, glued them onto the backgrounds, and glued on some tussock and other features.

We think Tahake are special. We hope you like these photos of our art.

Please leave us some comments so we know that people are enjoying our blog. Thank you.
