Here we are improving our soccer skills using the hints he gave us. We are playing a game in small groups.
We are a class of 26 Year 3 and 4 students at Twizel Area School. Twizel is a small town surrounded by tussocks and mountains. We are the closest town to Aoraki Mount Cook.

Self-Reflection on Reading Work
It's always good to think about your learning ... here are some examples of student thoughts on recent work in reading:
I have learned confidence in reading can take you a long way in lots of different subjects. I have also learned that dictionary work is not scary. It is super fun.
I think I am good at writing summaries but I think I might have to write them a bit longer. I definitely think I have got better at using a dictionary.
I needed to catch up a bit and work a bit faster and quicker and get the work done. I have underlined my work, did a picture, and did two or more dictionary meanings. I have done a great job. The School Journal Story Library work was fun.
In this study I think I have got better at writing summaries and using dictionaries. I also think that reading these books has taught me a lot about New Zealand and other children that live in this country. I have really liked this study and I hope that we do something like this again sometime.
KEEP UP THE GREAT REFLECTION ON YOUR LEARNING ROOM 4 AND I HOPE YOU LIKE OUR PLAY READING JUST AS MUCH.

Selecting Plays to Perform
This morning we read 6 plays together, and voted for our favourite ones. They are all about dragons, Kings, Queens, castles etc as that is what our school production is about. Here we are doing the voting for the plays we liked the most, the second most, and the third most. Tomorrow we will decide who is doing each play and then we will get started.
The most popular plays were:
1. Knights of the Wrong Table
2. Ze King Shall Sing
3. Royal Rescue
We are excited about doing plays.

Paper Mache - Making Food Items for Our School Production
Later this term our school is doing a production of George and the Dragon. Lots of our senior students are working hard learning their lines and actions.
We are excited about the production!
We are making paper mache food for a banquet table for the production. Today we started by putting the first layers of paper on balloons. Some of the food items we are making are: jellies, oranges, grapes, apples, cakes, bananas, watermelon, strawberries, bread, chicken legs, pears and pigs.
We are making wine goblets too.We are excited about the production!
Our Hallway
This is the hallway outside Room 4. We display a lot of our work for parents and teachers and other students to read and observe. At the moment we have the following things on display:
1. Whale art and whale work, including picket boards about saving whales.
2. Lots of writing from pictures in Memories magazines. These are magazines about N.Z. history.
3. Leaf art, showing symmetry.
4. Lots of writing about pirates. Do you like pirate stories? One of our favourite pirate stories is Finnigan and the Pirates, written by Sherryl Jordan. This book won the Junior Fiction Book Award this year. We agree with the judges choice.
5. Drawings of keas. These are alpine parrots that we think are very special. We are worried that keas are declining in numbers. We sing a song about keas sometimes.
6. Stories about when the N.Z. Ballet toured in 1959. We wrote these stories after the ballet came to Twizel.
7. Poems about a very windy day in Twizel when the leaves were blasting around our courtyard.
Our hallway is a very busy place. We are proud of the work we have done.
We did have pirate maps there too, but they went home last week. Now they are all around everyone's houses.

Diary Writing
After lunch each day Room 4 write in their Learning Diaries. We use the homework diairies that our senior students use for their homework, but we use them for writing about what we have been learning and what we have been doing.
Sometimes we have a 'STAR WORD.' That is a word that has to be used in the diary that day. Today one of the maths groups had Integers for a star word because they have been learning about integers (negative numbers).
If you are reading our blog, please put a comment on, because we are just learning how to do this and we would like some feedback please.

Buddy Reading
We love books in Room 4. Here are three of our hard-working people sharing a book. They are Christine, Nikau, and Jayde. The book is called Sky Rider. It is about a man in Rotorua who surfs in the sky!
